The Dyson Diecastings business was offered for sale following a strategic decision by The Alumasc Group Plc to divest its engineering products businesses in order to focus on the supply of niche building products, which is its core business.
Dyson Diecastings are a well respected and recognised supplier of high quality Aluminium and Zinc diecast products and boasts diecast tooling manufacturing capability on site. Dyson Diecastings was first incorporated 97 years ago. Today Dysons employee close to 100 skilled, knowledgeable and loyal staff members that are key to the success of the business. The customer base is well diversified across sectors such as Niche Automotive, Electronics, Office Furniture and Sound equipment.
The Broadways board recognise that there are many synergies between the two companies, these include the engineering nature of the manufacturing processes, the automotive sector of the customer base and the internal processes used to manage the business on a day to day basis.
There are a number of compelling reasons why the Broadways board chose to pursue and complete this acquisition;
- The synergies mentioned above, particularly the automotive customer base. Many automotive manufactures are on a quest to produce vehicles with ever lower emissions, to that end they are taking weight out of the vehicle wherever possible. Many applications that are currently fulfilled with a steel component could be replaced with an alloy casting. The newly enlarged group will be in the perfect position to support either.
- The Dysons site is immediately to the east of the Broadways site, in fact the two sites share more than one boundary. The size of the combined site is now over 200,000 square feet of production and office space.
- The current capacity at Dysons is underutilised, by filling the existing capacity and where appropriate investing in new technologies the growth of Dysons is more than achievable.
The Broadways board, the management and employees of Dysons are excited about the future prospects for Dysons following this acquisition, all are committed to developing and growing both Dysons and Broadways.
