While many production processes have only advanced through more sophisticated means of automation, the performance criteria required from a component is constantly evolving.

This is where Dyson Diecastings’ design experience and engineering capability combine to provide clients with unsurpassed service input, resulting in predictable outcomes based on tried and tested collaborative working.

When a new project is first introduced to Dyson Diecastings the client will furnish us with a set of initial criteria often based on an existing process or a broad idea of how the component has been re-designed to meet new criteria.

Our experience helps us look beyond the immediate design production and manufacturing process to issues based on the predicted life cycle of a component, providing solutions to problems the client would not yet be aware of, or demonstrating alternative scenarios based on cast versus process.

Our formula for success is based on strong teamwork. At the start of every new project a dedicated team of specialists representing the key disciplines involved in the design and manufacturing process assess the feasibility of a project.

This proves invaluable in developing design modifications or establishing the production process at the early stages, saving time and money.

The finished product is always a result of the effort and knowledge employed at the start. At the outset of a project we employ an initial feasibility report on our recommended approach. This report involves initial drawings and specifications providing information for both costings and production time scales.

New product introduction process:

  • Full assessment and understanding of customer requirements
  • Feasibility analysis
  • Design for manufacture – CAD modelling and magma simulation
  • Prototype manufacture (simulating as closely as possible the production intent)
  • Manufacture of production tooling
  • Project management – APQP process
  • Development of production process
  • Submission of samples and approval of production process – PPAP process
